10 of the Best Bible Verses to Incorporate into your Wedding

Religious incorporation is a longstanding tradition when it comes to weddings. The very idea of weddings are highly rooted in religious values and institutions. And to this day, many couples still adhere to traditional marriage ceremonies to honor or acknowledge their beliefs. Couples who begin their marital journey through their faith are agreeing to live a life full of spirituality and godliness. The wedding ceremony is often a symbolic reflection of the religious lifestyle that the couple plan on living by.

However, many of today’s couples are also in “religious limbo.” Meaning, they were raised under a religious sect and no longer practice, but may want to appease their parents or grandparents who still do. Or maybe no one in your family, including yourself, practices a denomination, but you’d still like to incorporate the bible into your nuptials. Your wedding day is your own, and you should organize it exactly the way you see fit.

Stuck on where to begin when it comes to quotes on lasting love? The bible is full of tons of amazing verses on relationships, marriage and love. And many of these do not contain any words that would imply a religious inflection. They are simply beautiful, elegantly worded passages on love.

Whether you plan on hosting an entirely religious ceremony, or just want to sprinkle in a small something to honor your denominational roots, these ten bible verses are sure to please anyone on your Big Day.

Colossians 3:14

“And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”

Ecclesiastes 4:9

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?”

Genesis 2:24

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”

Ecclesiastes 4:12

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-5

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”

Psalm 143:8

“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.”

Proverbs 30:18-19

“There are three things that amaze me—no, four things that I don’t understand: how an eagle glides through the sky, how a snake slithers on a rock, how a ship navigates the ocean, how a man loves a woman.”

1 Peter 4:8

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

 Ephesians 4:2

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
