Bachelorette parties are a must-do when celebrating the bride-to-be. But, it’s easy for costs to skyrocket when it’s a getaway event. To help make this a more affordable experience yet still achieve an epic destination bachelorette party, Abell DJ Company shares five expert tips.

Shore Up on Booze Before Going Out

Whether you go shopping the minute you get to town or skip the vino altogether, not drinking when you go out can save you a ton of cash. Have some fun themed cocktails in your hotel suite before heading out for dinner or dancing. Or, swap nighttime reveling for daytime activities that don’t equate to drinking. This way, you avoid costly markups on alcohol at bars and restaurants. Plus, by not drinking or with minimal drinking, you’ll all feel better and will have more energy to enjoy your trip.

Choose a Central or Local Hot Spot

The average wedding guest is already spending around $250 to attend your nuptials, The Knot points out. So why ask the wedding party to extra when it comes time to travel to the bride’s bachelorette party? Instead of flying across the country, consider a central location where everyone can easily travel.

It might be the Las Vegas strip or a local winery, but either way, a nearby locale can still deliver an exotic experience. Plus, driving is typically cheaper than flying in most scenarios, according to Forbes. But you should consider factors like vehicle maintenance, food while on the road, and gas costs in contrast with expenses like baggage check fees, taxi costs, and airport parking charges.

Think Outside the Hotel Room

Hotels and B&Bs are often the first choices for bachelorette destination events. But as Trip 101 explains, the benefits of a vacation rental include features like full kitchens, optimum privacy, and access to unique attractions. Many vacation rentals offer amenities like pools, hot tubs, and more to add to your event.

In terms of pricing, the longer your stay, the more a vacation rental makes sense. Of course, there are still short-term properties available to rent for your girls’ weekend—it’s just a matter of finding the perfect one. If you’re planning a beach bachelorette on Sanibel Island, for example, you can find the ideal rental by considering where you want to be location-wise, then narrowing your choices by amenities. Like if it’s a full beach vacation, Lighthouse beach or Blind Pass beach are great options. Or, if the bride is an animal lover, you can stay closer to the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge.

Whatever you choose, public transportation access may be the priority for your group—especially if nights out on the town are part of your itinerary. Then again, you may want to skip homestays entirely and look for alternative lodgings—like yurts, campgrounds, treehouses, and more.

Select Offbeat Entertainment

Some bachelorette parties feature wild nights of dancing and drinking, but that doesn’t mean you have to go along with the status quo. The following less traditional—yet still thrilling—activities can be cheaper than a night or two out on the town:

  • Charter a boat or take sailing lessons as a group.
  • Go camping. Play beer pong and make s’mores around the campfire.
  • Take a painting class (with wine on the side) with your girls.
  • Pack a picnic and explore somewhere new.

When you’re on a tight budget or are hoping to throw a less conventional bachelorette party, you might feel overwhelmed. Fortunately, there are still plenty of ways to create a memorable destination event without spending excess cash.
