6 Essential tips for planning a wedding
Your wedding is upon you. That means plenty of planning, trips to the salon, and shopping. Weddings are beautiful and enjoyable and it is even special, if it is your own wedding. Now that you have made the big decision of marrying the love of your life, where do you start your preparation? Here are some important tips you need to follow while planning your dream wedding.
- Make a budget
You would rather prefer buying your wedding dress first then making a budget. It is because budgeting is not that interesting or fun then the rest of the wedding preparation but it is the most beneficial out of all. Weddings are not cheap. You will probably have to spend a lot of money on it. And since you will be doing such huge expenditure, it will be best if you make a budget first. It helps you to put everything in order and spend your money in the most efficient way.
- Make the guest list
Weddings are a once in a lifetime thing. Can be more than one but that is a different topic. But my point is that it is the big celebration that all your friends and family members wait for. You have to make sure that all of them are invited to your wedding. Make a rough list and then keep on adding people as you remember. Then after choosing the venue, finalize your guest list. Make sure to add the crew member in the list so you can make the seating and food arrangement according to it.
- Selecting your vendors and payment
It takes time and research to find the ideal vendors. Get in contact with different vendors. Check out their services and past work. Narrow down the one you like and then make the final decision. It may sound like a simple task but trust me, it isn’t. It is harder than you can imagine. But it is doable so don’t start panicking. Also after you have selected your vendors, try to give them advance payments. It will save you from a lot of trouble afterwards.
- Always have spare money
You will be spending a lot of money since it is your wedding. But remember to always have some extra cash with you. There are possibly a hundred things that could go wrong. You may have to a make a last minute purchase. Or it could start raining and you will have to buy umbrellas for your guest. So here is a tip. Spend your money according to this ratio. Spend 40 to 50% on your reception and 8 to 10% each on flowering, attire and music. Then you also have to take out 10 to 12% for the photos and videos.
- Make your partner a part of it
There is no need for you to be alone in this hard work. The wedding preparation is as much of a responsibility of your partner as it is of yours. Talk with your partner and take all the major decision together. Whether it is choosing your wedding venue or your wedding DJ, make sure both of you equally agree on one choice. But again it isn’t compulsory for your partner to be in each and every aspect of your wedding preparation. Just having him/her present in some of it will make your wedding preparation much more fun and easier.
