One thing you are most probably not aware of about weddings until it is your turn to plan your wedding is how stressful the entire process can be. Some couples are not lucky enough to get the chance to prepare themselves adequately but thankfully, you get the chance to. Katie is an exceptional wedding planner who has worked with diverse couples for several years now. In the rest of this article, Katie shares wedding preparation lessons from her experiences.
1. What common mistakes do you see couples making?
Many couples are faced with the pressure of trying to please everyone, which in many cases is impossible. While it is important to be considerate and accommodating to the requests of others, keep the main focus on what you and your partner want for your special day. In the end, that is most important!
2. What’s the best tip you have for a couple planning a wedding?
Please for the sake of your health and strength, do not do it alone! Invest in planners to take away the stress that comes with wedding planning and to also keep you on task, on budget and so much more!
Even if you ultimately decide against hiring a planner, friends and family are typically more than happy to help! Delegate even the smallest tasks to them, which would in turn take a huge load off you and keep you fresh and in shape for your wedding!
3. What don’t couples know about your business that they need to know?
Arch Events proudly goes above and beyond for their couples in every way possible! We understand that every wedding is unique, and inversely every couples planning needs are as well. Therefore, we are happy to customize any of our packages to best fit you, your needs and your budget!
4. What questions should couples be asking that they don’t know to ask?
One thing I believe is important for couples to ask themselves is “What is our vision for the day?” A question that includes not only how you want the day to look, but how you want the day to feel, the experience you want to provide your guests, and so on. Although it can be a loaded and rather heavy question, it’s an important one because once you form your vision, it tremendously helps with the entire planning process!
5. What’s your best piece of advice for couples planning a wedding?
Your wedding day is so anticipated and for some reason on the big day, it tends to fly by so fast! Cliche, but very true! The best piece of advice I can give is at some point in the day or during the reception, grab your spouse and take a minute or two to just soak it all in together. Relish in that moment and the love you have for each other, all while surrounded by your loved ones. It will be a moment you’ll never forget!
6. What’s the most unusual wedding you ever did?
Last year around Christmas time I planned a wedding that decided to have the ceremony in the morning, and then have a breakfast buffet with all of their guests instead of a typical dinner/reception. They had a waffle bar and mimosas, everything was over by late afternoon, and I believe they went on their honeymoon that night. It was super cool and different!
7. What was the most memorable wedding you have ever worked, and why?
There was a couple I worked with about 2 years ago, the bride was a triplet to two brothers and their dad had passed early on in their life. So, she decided to have her brothers walk her down the aisle. Then later during the reception when the bride’s father would typically speak, they planned something super special for her. Everyone including me was so moved and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room!
