When you are single, you take care of your health and fitness. You go to the Gym regularly and practice clean and healthy eating. But the moment you go in a relationship, everything changes. Many couples have confessed that once you get in a relationship, it gets extremely hard to remain fit. They start skipping exercising day for their date night. The urge of staying in bed all day and cuddling with your boo takes away the little bit of motivation you have to exercise. But it shouldn’t always be like that. Your health comes before anything else in the world. Here are some tips that will help you and your partner in staying fit while enjoying the perks of being in a relationship.
- Get plenty of sleep
It is a saying that you fall in sleep faster and easily when you are laying next to the person you love. So it should automatically solve at least half of your sleeping problems. Human body need to be well rested in order to properly function. To get a good night sleep, you need to practice proper sleep hygiene. It includes putting away your cell phone at least an hour before your sleep time. Avoid eating a heavy meal after 7pm etc.
- Portion control
No one is asking you to cut off on all your favorite food. But what you can do is control their portions. The calorie need for a man and a woman is different so if you are in a relationship, you do not have to keep up with your man’s diet. Focus on your own body and eat according to your own caloric need. Use small dishes when you are eating. It has a major psychological impact and you will feel fuller.
- Skip the fast food
Everyone loves eating fast food. It is delicious and you get them very fast without having to wait hours like you would for a regular meal. But the only thing bad about fast food is that it is not healthy at all. It has zero nutritional values. It contains a high percentage of sodium, Trans fat and cholesterol. If you and your partner keep on eating it for a long time then you both will develop serious health problems like diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and kidney problem. So as much tempting as fast food seems to you, do not eat it too often.
- Workout as a couple
Diet and exercise are both important to stay fit. Try to do exercise as a couple and motivate each other to remain more active. You don’t have to follow a strict exercise regimen. Just try to do any sort of exercise that will get your heart rate up. It can either be Dance, hot yoga, aerobic exercise or even a brisk outdoor walk. Now you can stream unlimited workout classes so you’ll never run out of options or will get bored. Make sure you keep on moving. The moment you get into the habit of sitting in a place, you will gain weight and become lazy.
- Set realistic goals
Whatever your plan is, remember to set realistic goals. Actively communicate with your partner and tell him what your goals are and try to be on the same page. This way you can stick to them for long. Don’t set goals that are hard to achieve like doing a workout 6 days a week or losing 10 pounds in a month. Start with baby steps and increase the intensity slowly. This way you and your partner will stick to the plan for a long time.
