FAQ’s Session with Amelia Timms
• What common mistakes do you see couples making?
Giving guests too many choices. It is their day; the couple should have it their way! Pick the food they want to eat, there are no rules anymore. If they want brunch, do brunch! If they want tacos, do tacos!
• What’s the best tip you have for a couple planning a wedding?
During the current times we are living in, my best advice would be to please be flexible. I know this is not an ideal time to get married, and the vision the couple might have had in the beginning might not be possible. I advise them to keep their eyes on what is most important. They are going to be celebrating a union to be partners for the rest of their life in good times and in bad.
• What don’t couples know about your business that they need to know?
We are a small boutique company and I want to keep it that way. We are the opposite of a corporate company. I personally sit down and speak to my clients during the planning process. I want to hear their story so we can help them create the vision for their wedding day.
• What questions should couples be asking that they don’t know to ask?
What is actually included in our pricing and what does your venue provide?
• What is your best piece of advice for couples planning a wedding?
Start early and get as much done and planned as early as possible.
• What’s the most unusual wedding you’ve ever had?
A Gothic/Renaissance-themed wedding. The bride wore a deep scarlet wedding dress. The bridal party was dressed to fit the theme. It was a lot of fun and the couple was a dream to work with. They even gave period-appropriate wedding favors.
• What was the most memorable wedding you ever worked, and why?
It was one of our very first weddings. The couple was just amazing and so sweet. We felt like a part of their family by the time the special day came. When their one-year anniversary came along, the husband called me and asked if I would recreate their wedding meal. He wanted to surprise her.
Well, of course, I obliged him. A year or so later, I received a call from the bride and they asked if we could help create a beautiful baby shower for the arrival of their first child. I was so honored that I got to be a part of so many important milestones of their life. It reminded me of why all of the long hours, back-breaking work, blood, sweat, and tears are so worth what we do here at Graze.
