Questions and Answers:
What common mistakes do you see couples making when planning a wedding?
“Not developing or considering their day of timeline early in the planning process. This can affect hiring their other vendors and potential contracts they arrange with them, especially venue, catering, entertainment, and photography.”
What’s the best tip you have for a couple planning a wedding when hiring a service like yours?
“It can be tricky to compare venues and caterers apples to apples. Creating a checklist of questions that cover inclusions, parking, access, service and admin fees, and even asking for a cost proposal can really clarify some things. Expect and demand written contracts for all of your vendors.”
What don’t couples know about your business that they need to know?
“We are a unique venue that truly offers an all-inclusive package for weddings and all of our events. We offer the space, a coordinator to plan out the details with you, and we offer premium-level beverage and food service. So we are the venue, coordinator, and the caterer!”
What questions should couples be asking that they don’t know to ask?
“What is included in your package(s)? Do you have a la carte options? Is my deposit refundable or how is that handled? How many staff/technicians/professionals will be included in this package and/or how is that determined and when? How will dietary restrictions be handled? How early can I access the space or my vendors? When do my guests and vendors need to be out of the space at the end of the event? Can I bring items ahead of time or leave them overnight? What decor or rental restrictions are there?”
What is your best piece of advice for couples planning a wedding?
“Get organized. Know your deadlines with vendors and work backward to create your RSVP date. Always remember what is most important to you and your partner. Try not to get bogged down in the details; don’t sweat the small stuff. Our venue will do all that for you!”
What’s the most unusual wedding you ever did?
“I find it unusual when I work more with the mother or sister of the bride rather than the bride or the couple, especially when the couple is not very engaged in the planning process. Don’t be afraid to be yourselves and make decisions on what is important to you – it will make your wedding feel more personal and memorable.”
What was the most memorable wedding you ever worked, and why?
“Almost all of our weddings were a special day in the moment. Really amazing couples who you know are just meant for each other. Those are the best weddings because I am truly truly happy for them and feel like a part of the family on the big day.”
As you navigate the intricate process of planning your wedding, let Hanna Zurweller’s insights be your compass. The journey might be filled with decisions, but armed with expert advice, your path to the big day can be as joyous and stress-free as the celebration itself.
