What’s the best tip you have for a couple planning a wedding?
- Do not invite a guest that you would not invite to your own home.
- Don’t get caught up in the decor or favors – the event lasts only one day.
What don’t couples know about Carolyn Burke STL that they need to know?
My knowledge of over 600 locations in the St Louis metropolitan area and 150 religious sites.
What questions should couples be asking that they don’t know to ask?
Etiquette is more like a wedding tradition instead of doing something right or wrong.
There really is no code of polite behavior with the roles of the wedding party.
Of course, this depends on how formal or if religion plays a big role in the wedding.
What your best piece of advice for couples planning a wedding?
A wedding is a blend of traditions and personal touches.
Each wedding ceremony is a creation unto its own and the only limit is your imagination.
What’s the most unusual wedding you ever did?
Since my specialty is short, sweet and simple ceremonies – the location is the unusual part.
I have performed a ceremony in the Penguin House, the top of the Gateway Arch, a Harley Davidson dealership,
a nail salon, and even a bus stop in Maplewood.
What was the most memorable wedding you ever worked, and why?
My first same sex marriage ceremony. My first was with two men who have been together as a couple for over 25 years at the time. Being part of an event that was once illegal and considered taboo was the highest honor.
