Hiring the right DJ for your wedding in St. Louis shouldn’t be difficult or scary! The DJ is supposed to be the fun part of a wedding! There are many things you should know before you hire a DJ. The best thing you can do before hiring is to interview your DJ before you make a decision.
It is always in your best interest to meet with any vendor before hiring them. We feel that this is the easiest way for you to make an informed decision about the most visible vendor, especially, one who will be in front of all of your friends and family for many hours on your most important day. Don’t forget, the DJ is in charge of running your whole reception as well as entertaining your guests. If you interview them in person, you will have a better sense about the decision that you make one way or the other.
Questions to ask when hiring a Wedding DJ:
• Are you going to be the actual DJ for my event?
• Will you also MC my event?
• Are you available on my wedding date?
• Do you provide all of the sound equipment required?
• Will you sign a written contract?
• Is set up and tear down included in the quote?
• Do you a surcharge for travel?
• When do you arrive for setup?
• Are you able to provide music for the ceremony as well as the reception?
• Is it possible to provide a sound system for ceremony and reception if needed?
• Do you have set packages or charge by the hour?
• What type of equipment do you use, is it professional equipment?
• Do provide backup equipment?
• Are you licensed and insured?
• To provide online event planning and music requests?
• Can we pick the music we want to hear and do not want to hear?
• Do provide wireless microphones for toast or speeches?
• Do you arrange and execute the timeline at the event?
• What do you wear to my event?
• Do you take requests?
• Do provide lighting? Does it cost extra?
• How many years of experience do you have? How many weddings have you DJ?
• What is the total price for the package?
• How much is the deposit?
• How is final payment arranged?
• Are there any additional fees I should be aware of?

imgresI recommend when calling around to find a DJ to wright down a list of questions before calling. Most people don’t know what else to ask besides “Price and Availability” which won’t justify “Why” the entertainments price is what it is. All DJs are not created equal or the same. Ask questions like, Do you have any reviews from past brides? How long have you been in business? How many weddings has the DJ done? Can we meet with the DJ before? etc.

I’ve created an information sheet with sample questions to ask any wedding vendor when calling around to get information.
