Allyssa Stevenson of Allyssa Elaine Events gives her response to questions asked and shares some useful tips you should keep in mind when planning your wedding.
1. What common mistakes do you see couples making?
Not utilizing their vendors and their knowledge. Sometimes it never hurts to ask and it’s better to go to a seasoned pro for advice than a friend or family member that might steer you wrong – especially these days with the constant changes surrounding Covid!
2. What’s the best tip you have for a couple planning a wedding?
Unless you’re on a time crunch – planning a wedding less than a year away – try and wait a month before jumping into planning. Enjoy your engagement and don’t just rush into the frenzy of wedding mode!
Your engagement is a special season that should be celebrated and taking that time helps you keep everything in check. The whole “why” of getting married is to be with your person forever – so why put that on the back-burner because you’re planning the special day?
3. What don’t couples know about your business that they need to know?
We can customize all of our packages and all pricing is also customized. So we aren’t offering the same quote to a couple inviting 50 guests as the couple inviting 300 guests and so on.
4. What questions should couples be asking that they don’t know to ask?
I think right now, just making sure you know and are aware of each of your vendors policies regarding reschedules, cancellations, and deposits. Read your contracts! All of the information is in there for a very good reason and we vendors work hard creating fair contracts for both us, our families, and our clients!
5. What’s your best piece of advice for couples planning a wedding?
Make a list of 3 things that are the most important to you about your wedding day that as long as you have those covered and accounted for, your day will be a success! Whether that’s amazing food or alone time blocked into the day or mimosas, just make sure they are part of it!
6. What’s the most unusual wedding you ever did?
We all have these! I think the most unique wedding I was ever part of included spray painted dinosaurs, table runners guests colored on with crayons, and a tandem bike.
7. What was the most memorable wedding you ever worked, and why?
Back in December 2018, it was my first wedding at Silver Oaks and the vendor lineup was just out of this world. All of my clients are special and I have stellar brides, but this December bride just holds a special place in my heart and is a friend – so helping her and seeing all the magic come to life was amazing. She booked design and full planning so I got to fully appreciate every single aspect that went into planning their day.
