The Most Overplayed Wedding Songs We Like to Avoid – And What to Play Instead

After a year in isolation, the minute the world returns back to normal, everyone will be itching for a good party. And all eyes will be on the brides and grooms planning a wedding post-2020.

It’s imperative that your wedding playlist is up to your guest’s standards. They’ll have high expectations as they prepare to get down on the dance floor after being deprived of such an event for so long. The best way to achieve this is to avoid playing all those overused songs that everyone is tired of hearing. Give them a refreshing new playlist that will have them crying at the heartfelt moments and partying the night away.

Overplayed Grand Entrance Song

I Gotta Feeling – The Black Eyed Peas – This song is upbeat, fun, and sure to get the crowd energized. But, it is extremely overdone, and choosing this song for your grand entrance lacks originality. Try replacing it with these equally as entertaining, yet more unique choices instead:

Love on Top by Beyonce.

Can’t Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake.

You’re my Best Friend by Queen.

I’m Coming Out by Diana Ross

Overplayed First Dance Song

Perfect – Ed Sheeran – Sheeran’s songs have all the makings of excellent, romantic, wedding ballads. But because of this, everyone in the past five years or so has incorporated his songs into their wedding at some point or another. Avoid looking like just another couple and consider these alternatives:

500 Miles by Sleeping at Last.

Amazed by Lonestar

Like I’m Gonna Lose You by Jasmine Thompson

The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra

Overplayed Father-Daughter Dance Song

I Loved Her First – Heartland – This song has been consistently playing at every other wedding for over a decade, and it’s overdue for a change. Try picking something meaningful and close to the heart, or use these options for inspiration.

Isn’t She Lovely by Stevie Wonder

Always, in All Ways by Kenny Loggins

The Best Day by Taylor Swift

Gracie by Ben Folds

Overplayed Last Dance Song

Closing Time – Semisonic – While this joke is certainly hilarious, and sure to get the message across to your guests, playing this song while the lights come up is overdone and unoriginal. Try playing one of these other songs that sends the same message, and packs a funnier punch.

Bye Bye Bye by NSYNC.

Say Goodbye by Chris Brown.

Leave (Get Out) by Jojo.

Take a Bow by Rihanna.
