Top wedding invitation tips

So you’ve created a budget and have chosen a date for your big day, the next step is sending out the invitation cards to your friends and family so they can be a part of this memorable event. Your wedding invitation can affect other aspects of your wedding like venue selection and catering services. Here are some expert tips on achieving a cost-effective wedding invitation.

Define Your Wedding Style

The invitation is the first hint your guests get in regards your wedding style. Its style depicts the nature of your wedding ceremony. As a result, you should pay a little extra attention to the specifics of your invitation. You should bear in mind the type of event you’re throwing before you start shopping for stationery so you can choose an invitation style this in sync.

Research extensively

Before making a decision, the first thing you should do in regards your wedding invitation plan is to visit various websites and blogs. This exercise will help you identify those patterns that best portray your preferred wedding type.

Work with your Colors

Your wedding color is a central requirement when it comes to designing your invitation cards i.e. your wedding colors should be fully implemented in your invites to make it more colorful and coherent. You should note the colors that best illustrate your wedding type and make sure you start their utilization as early as the invitation card designs.

Play With the Shape and Size

Depending on your taste, you could decide to go for the traditional 4.5-inch-by-6.25-inch rectangular shaped invitation card or a more playful or stylish design. There are many cost-effective designs out there . You just need to be able to look for them.

Legibility is paramount

The reason for an invitation card is to be read by the invitee. The legibility of the text should not be compromised by the designs and coloration. In general, you should avoid light ink on light background and dark ink on dark backgrounds. Do well to create a clear contrast between the text and the background. In matters of invitation, readability is paramount.

Choose Your Words Wisely

You should set out to learn the rules of writing out our invitation. Do well to include only the important details like the ceremony time and location, the hosts, the couple’s names, dress code and RSVP information. You should be as minimalistic as possible in your invitation cards. You should also do well to carefully design your card to depict elegance and poise.

Work with a budget

Before you start anything pertaining your wedding, you should have a sit-down with your partner and discuss your budget. You wedding invitation style, décor and design should be in line with the allocated budget. You may decide to send out fancy invites or go for simple digital invites depending on what your budget permits. This is why it is important to research your options ahead of time and ensure that your budget is in sync with your preferred wedding style.

Count the households

You can make your invitation much more cost-effective by reducing the number of guest to invite. Couples and families living together should get a single invitation card. Individuals living separately should get their own invitation. This way you can invite a whole lot of people at reduced stationery cost.

Don’t Forget the Rest of Your Suite

You should order your menu cards, programs and thank-you notes alongside your invitations from the same vendor. This way, your stationer can include all of the pieces in one order at a discount price. It is also an effective way to ensure that all your stationery have a cohesive look.

So there you have it, a few expert tips on having a cost-effective invitation. Best of luck (but I don’t think you’ll need it with these tips at your disposal).

My sister is getting married soon, and she asked me to help her design the invitations for the big day. Your article had some great tips for just this, and I liked how you said that a traditional 4.5-inch-by-6.25-inch rectangular shaped invitation card is always a good standby, but going for a more playful or stylish design is also an option. Thanks; I’ll share this with my sister to help her design invitations for her wedding.
