So, whether you’re about to say “I do” or just starting to plan your big day, read on for some insider knowledge that will help make your wedding planning journey a breeze.
What common mistakes do you see couples making when planning a wedding? Lisa’s Response: Trying to do everything themselves, especially on the day of the wedding. There is a fine line between DIY-ing your whole wedding and being strategic with your time, money, and energy. If you are determined to DIY, that’s fine, but map it out (meaning create a timeline of each detail that needs to be handled and when) then outsource the things that need to be handled the week and day-of your wedding. This will improve your overall wedding experience and reduce the likelihood of errors or catastrophe. Plus it will make you, your friends and family so much happier and more present.
What’s the best tip you have for a couple planning a wedding when hiring a service like yours? Lisa’s Response: In an effort to keep our services transparent, cost-effective, and streamlined almost every product and service we have is listed on our website. If you are unsure how to use a certain product or you want to try a new application, feel free to bypass the guessing and just ask. We’ve been in the events industry for more than fifteen years (our sister company Belli Fiori began in 2008), so we’ve seen a lot and often we can make minor modifications to help you achieve your vision.
What don’t couples know about your business that they need to know? Lisa’s Response: We are one of the most cost-effective event florists in the industry. We love what we do and we want every couple to have access to beautiful, stress-free wedding flowers on their special day.
What questions should couples be asking that they don’t know to ask? Lisa’s Response: I think our process is pretty straightforward, and we are really good at communicating with you about your order, even down to the size of the car you will need to safely pick up your order. We don’t like surprises on your special day, so we will do everything in our power to ensure we ask and/or communicate any details you may have overlooked.
What is your best piece of advice for couples planning a wedding? Lisa’s Response: It is important that you feel like you can trust the vendors that will be delivering on your wedding day. Some green flags are good communication, honest responses to your worries or concerns, and experience. If the wedding vendor you have chosen is brand-new to the industry that’s okay, just make sure they have the background to back up their young business and/or are being mentored by a more experienced industry person. We are fortunate in Saint Louis to have a very helpful and cohesive community of industry professionals.
What’s the most unusual wedding you ever did? Lisa’s Response: Each wedding is unique, but one of my favorite moments was modifying a flower crown to be used as a floral collar for a llama. I absolutely love llamas!
What was the most memorable wedding you ever worked, and why? Lisa’s Response: A few months ago, I delivered a Flower Lab order to a wedding venue almost 45 minutes outside of Saint Louis City. I didn’t actually witness the wedding (as event florists, our job comes way before the toasts and dancing ever start), but this family was so kind and grateful. I could tell how much they loved their daughter (bride-to-be), and for me that is what makes a wedding special. It may be a little sappy, but weddings are about the people and memories, that’s why we don’t want you to be stressed about your wedding flowers when you should be enjoying yourself and your loved ones.
