Meet the Talented Wedding Photographer Sally Grieshaber: A Vendor Highlight
A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event, so it’s important to have a photographer to capture all the special moments perfectly. From the first kiss to the last dance, a photographer will make sure you have beautiful photos to cherish for years to come.
But it’s not just about taking pretty pictures. A good photographer will also help you feel calm and relaxed on your big day. They will be there to give you peace of mind and make sure everything runs smoothly.
We sat down with one of the best wedding photographers in the business to get her insights on how she approaches each wedding she shoots and what couples can expect when hiring her for their wedding day. In this interview, Sally talks about her work, her style, and what it’s like to be a professional wedding photographer.
Q&A With Sally Grieshaber’s
Sally added that she loves traveling around the country to film adventure elopements. She also says that it is important to be prepared for anything on a wedding day. “Weddings can be unpredictable, so it’s important to be prepared for anything. I always make sure I have extra batteries and memory cards” Here’s what she had to say:
1. What common mistakes do you see couples making?
The most common mistake I see couples making is simply not building enough buffer time into their timeline. There are so many moving pieces to a wedding day & not everything always runs according to plan. It also takes much longer to do simple things like getting dressed or gathering your items to move from place to place. The last thing you want is to feel rushed or stressed on this special day.
2. What’s the best tip you have for a couple planning a wedding?
My biggest piece of advice is to really soak in the meaning of the day. Something is bound to go wrong, but don’t let it get to you. At the end of the day, you and your partner are committing your lives to one another. Everything else is background noise.
3. What don’t couples know about your business that they need to know?
I am a documentary style photographer. I want to capture your wedding day as organically as I can. I have more of a hands-off fly on the wall approach to your day, meaning I will not interrupt special moments for something slightly more aesthetically pleasing. I will still direct and pose, but I want to preserve the special moments as organic.
4. What questions should couples be asking that they don’t know to ask?
When it comes to photography, couples should always be asking about backup processes. Let’s face it, technology fails. You do NOT want to lose any precious memories of your wedding day, especially from a professional you hired. Three questions to always ask: Do they shoot with a dual slot SD card camera? What does their backup process after the wedding day look like—how many places are they saving the backups to? What happens in the circumstance they are unable to work that day?
5. What’s the most unusual wedding you’ve ever done?
Elopements are ever growing in popularity these days & I have been fortunate enough to travel country-wide to capture ‘adventure elopements’. These take place out in nature & often break a lot of traditions and rules! These days are completely intentional and curated to the couple. I photographed one in Moab, Utah over the summer where we woke up at 3:00am to see sunrise in Canyonlands National Park & then traveled back to their Airbnb to have their intimate ceremony with only family about mid-morning.
6. What was the most memorable wedding you ever worked, and why?
My most memorable wedding was an adventure elopement I photographed recently in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The day was completely about the two of them as a couple & you could feel all the emotions. It was truly such a special day with how intentional they made it.
