Insider Tips from Wedding Coordinator Heather Ferguson
Regardless of the planning and arrangements you’ve made for your big day, you don’t want to be monitoring your day, you just want to enjoy every moment of your wedding day, and you certainly don’t want to deal with the stress of something going wrong.
A wedding coordinator will work alongside your vendors to ensure your special day is everything you dreamt of; calmly overseeing every element and carefully executing your vision without getting in the way or making any fuss.
They’ll make sure the day is all about you, resolving any last-minute issues as they arise so that you don’t even notice and stress about them. If you want to remember your big day, the feelings you felt, the food you ate, and the people you saw, an experienced wedding coordinator can make sure you have the time to focus on nothing but your wedding.
Interview with Heather Ferguson from Biergarten Events
Today, we had the opportunity to interview one of our favorite wedding coordinators, Heather Ferguson! She brings to life so many beautiful weddings and her desire to serve couples and her attention to detail are truly inspiring!
We asked Heather some questions about her business as well as some tips and advice for a newly engaged couple planning their wedding! Keep reading, there is so much to learn!!!
1. What common mistakes do you see couples making?
I think the biggest thing as a venue we run into is budget and dates. Many brides will say we are out of budget just while reading the initial information. Also, a lot of brides will come to us with a set date. It is not
common that we have specific dates open so being open to different dates is key.
2. What’s the best tip you have for a couple planning a wedding?
The best tip I have is to STAY ORGANIZED! We as vendors are here to help you but if you keep notes and write questions down, you won’t lose sleep at night :)
3. What don’t couples know about your business that they need to know?
At Anheuser-Busch Biergarten, we are an all-inclusive venue. We handle all the food and beverage as well as the day of coordination. We do our best to handle all the stress of most of the planning for you!
4. What questions should couples be asking that they don’t know to ask?
I think one thing that I stress to couples when they are looking for venues is to ask what is all included with rentals, food, beverage, service fee, etc. We personally combine a lot of our pricing to make it all-inclusive and sometimes that can be confusing while shopping other venues!
5. What is your best piece of advice for couples planning a wedding?
Remember, this is YOUR wedding. Not your parents, family, or friends. Do what makes you both happy! Once your guests see you both happy, they will love being a part of your day!
6. What’s the most unusual wedding you ever did?
We hosted a wedding last July where the couple was from 2 different nationalities. We hung 1000 origamis from the ceiling, danced around with a second line band down Lynch Street, and broke open a Saki barrel! It was awesome!
7. What was the most memorable wedding you ever worked on, and why?
I think back on the last year of weddings each one of them left a lasting impression on me. COVID-19 really hurt our brides mentally and emotionally and seeing them so happy on the day that we had planned
(for most) up to 2 years made it completely worthwhile!
