Don & Annie’s Poetic Wedding at the World’s Fair Pavilion, St. Louis MO

In an era of pinning and getting inspired by flamboyance, there are very few scenarios that seem like literature actually came alive. However, the sequel of Don and Annie when they exchanged vows under the iconic arches of the World’s Fair Pavilion in St. Louis was a polished, weary story of two decades-old, unusual love, tender, full of history, and their happiness. Each aspect of the day, from handwritten vows to individual scripts of the ceremony, boasted of their love for writing and publishing, hence making their poetic wedding a celebration of both love and words.

They were not simply two individuals who were in love with each other. These were two characters: Don, a novelist who was into historical novels, and Annie, an editor who was supposed to have a weakness for sonnets. Their poetic wedding wasn’t about extravagance. It was about creating the story that portrayed every individually unique guest as a character in an interesting story.

Their Poetic Wedding Vows Told a Love Story

The entire poetic wedding was traditional and very serious, as the sun and a gentle wind broke through the milky clouds after it symbolized a flower blooming. People arrived at the paradise location with a view of Forest Park, which none of them knew they had a chance to watch one of the most beautifully subtle weddings they could envision. Drawing on their characters, instead of uttering cliched phrases, both Don and Annie composed their own vows in the form of lines from a book they have been creating together for several years.

The name he said to her was their first time talking to each other at the bookstore. Hers told of his early writing sessions, for which she used to edit them. They vowed that they would remain to point out their love in the small spaces between the great events of time. It was writing and publishing at its substantive best, at its most emotional, sincere, naked, and passionate. Everyone had tears in the corner of their eye as their voices blended into the symphony in the song, like how verses harmonize with the chorus.

One of his best friends performed an official speech as a prologue which was filled with several literary figures and references to chapters. Chiclets were given a booklets of programs with the covers looking like mini-bios bound in paper-back and the acknowledgement section that stated To all the great loves that taught us how to write our own.

The Pavilion Set the Scene for a Poetic Wedding Storybook Affair

It was set at the World’s Fair Pavilion in St. Louis and had beautiful Spanish-style architecture as well as several terraces from which to take pictures. The venue was not only located on the Government Hill, but it was positioned on the hilltop to tell a story. It was evident that writing & publishing emerged in every area & came into magnificent visual art, starting from the typing machine at the entrance to the table number written on scrolls.

The venue was an outdoor facility, and the ivory colored fabric decorated the structures of the arches found inside. The walls of the facility had quotes from various novels written in calligraphy. The couple selected deep emerald and soft plum as color bases—earthy and royal, and they evoked the feeling of old spines in the books in the library. After a good meal, they ordered their specialty drink, called ‘Hemingway’, which matched well with the scenic view and the cool weather.

At nightfall when the light of the sun was setting behind the skyline of St. Louis, the lighting inside the pavilion came from candles; This gave a warm amber to the simple decorations, where the books were used as centerpieces and the paper flowers made from the poetry book, of course, the poems of Annie. No moment felt staged. All the elements were the creation of their narrative—a plot that was refined to fit the bestseller yet vibrant with personality.

The Music Created Moodboards for Memory

Indeed, the words became the main speakers of the day, while music supplied the pauses. They chose the songs each of them personally liked as if they were selecting songs for their favorite movie. During the cocktail hour, music was played live by an orchestra to the tunes of some of the literary classic famous hits, such as Moon River, As Time Goes By,ands the string quartet that played Your Song.

Their first dance, I dare say, was the most fascinating. As the song “Sea of Love” by Cat Power played in the background, the romantic scene was beautifully intimate and Hallmark-like. The pavilion stilled. Guests swayed. Protagonists, Don and Annie, glide as two people who have indeed been waiting for this paragraph all their lives.

Going on in the evening, the pace was picked up with the indie tracks and classics for the dancing. But true to its writing and publishing origin, the reception’s concluding did not end with a song and dance but in a reading. His bride produced the mic for their young sister to say a lovely poem that they composed for the couple, which moved everybody to cheer, smile, and even cry at the end of the poem; they stood up clapping as a sign of appreciation.

The Poetic Wedding Reception Immersed Guests

Each corner of the reception was related to the literature and publishing industry. Catering included favors as bookmarks having a line from the book selected by both Don and Annie. Instead of the conventional photo booth, there were more of an area that contained books, quills, and blank papers where they could write something for a guest book.

Dessert was also helped by this occurrence and took up the theme as well. The wedding cake was designed to be made in the shape of piles of numbering a few literary, which was their preferred literary genres: the lowest layer was chocolate, representing the romance type, top and second layer were of vanilla chai, representing memoir and the third was the red velvet, which represented drama. The cake topper was as witty as well; The two paper dolls were cut from the pages of the first short story Don ever wrote for Annie.

Through the evening, the guests were entertained by a live jazz band that provided only the amount of music to encourage people to dance and the moments of stillness to ponder. It can be seen that while people were chatting and giggling, it was not your normal working reception. It was a convention of ideas and recollections, which were united, as it was said, by the word.

Their Exit Closed the Book with Poise

Don and Annie have a quite unassuming way of making their exit, which is far from the typical fireworks and confetti. A tunnel of opened books was prepare, dandh the guests stood holding the books above themselve, as the couple walked through hand in hand like the main characters entering a new chapter of their lives.

They fled into a car with an old-fashioned Mercedes-Benz. The love letters followed them- literal ones—flying in the wind like a flag behind the couple. This happened in the video of youtube and they even caught every moment with something like a camera for making; the kiss was the moment she finally reached him, the adoring audience fading to the distance and suddenly the day was setting on them. A perfect epilogue.
