Wedding photographs are so important because they are the best way to immortalize your wedding. Not just things like shoes and cake but people and emotions. These are the tangible evidence of just how great your wedding day was and how happy your family and friends were. They are what will make you smile and cry years after the last light of your reception room has been turned off. And these are things that only a professional wedding photographer can guarantee for you.

Q&A with Chelsea Liefer

Today we’ve Chelsea Liefer from Chelsea Liefer Photography, thanks for your time. Let’s Enjoy the interview!

 • What Common Mistakes Do you See Couples Making?

The common mistakes that I see couples making are usually connected to the two of them trying to please other people before focusing on their own priorities and needs. It’s definitely important to be considerate of family, friends, the wedding party, and guests, but letting other people’s opinions take over leads to stress throughout the planning and on the wedding day.

 • What’s the Best Tip You have for a Couple Planning a Wedding?

The best tip I have for a couple planning a wedding is to book vendors you feel you can trust and lean on! Having a solid team for your wedding day will make planning simple, and the wedding day so much more enjoyable for the two of you.

 • What Don’t Couples Know About Your Business that they Need to Know?

What couples might not know about my business is that each wedding day deeply matters to me, and when it comes to something as personal as wedding photography it’s impossible not to lead with your heart. Do you need to laugh, hug, cry, vent, or lean on me? I’m there.

 • What Questions Should Couples be Asking that they Don’t Know to Ask?

When booking a wedding photographer, it’s important to ask questions about their style, process, and experience so you know they are a perfect fit for your day. Ask about anything that feels unclear. Most photographers are an open book, and also want to be sure that they are connecting with couples that fit just right. I’ve found that it’s not always about the questions that couples are asking, but the information about their needs that they’re sharing. For example, when a couple mentions in their very first message that they are looking for bright and romantic photos, I already know they are the right place and I can serve them well.

 • What is your Best Piece of Advice for Couples Planning a Wedding?

My best piece of advice for planning a wedding is to lean into the things that are important to the two of you. Focus on planning a day that fits your needs and priorities, and forget the things that don’t. Does a certain tradition that you see make you cringe? Skip it! Your wedding day shouldn’t feel like you’re just going through the motions. It should be planned to fit YOU.

 • What’s the Most Unusual Wedding you Ever Did?

I don’t really have a wedding that stands out as being unusual overall. Although, I love when couples incorporate unique details into their wedding. It’s exciting to photograph new traditions and personal aspects that I don’t normally witness.

 • What was the Most Memorable Wedding you Ever Worked, and Why?

When I think back on my career so far, one of the most memorable weddings (because it is hard to choose just one!) was the first time I TRULY connected with the couple. The entire planning experience with them was seamless, we valued the same things, and it was the first time I had a couple go from being complete strangers to genuine friends. The way that I worked was exactly what they needed, and it showed. I even remember calling my husband on the way home from that wedding and talking about how I was exactly where I was supposed to be. I’ve continued to build my business around serving that ideal client, and am so grateful to have established that same connection with countless others.
