Interview Session with Wedding Planner, Kaitlin Hartman

Can you guess what is one of the number one regrets I’ve heard from brides over the years?  They regret not hiring a wedding planner. You would be surprised how far down the list a wedding planner ranks in the eyes of a bride and groom. Sometimes planners don’t even make the list.  Many brides (and grooms for that matter) underestimate what it takes to design, plan, and coordinate a wedding.  It’s not necessarily their fault, but more about where to cut down in their budget, not realizing the stress and pressure that comes with that decision.  I don’t want to sound like I’m giving a sales pitch, because that’s not at all that I’m doing.  I simply want every single bride to know they deserve a planner regardless of the size and budget of their wedding. Therefore we’ve Kaitlin Hartman on board with us. Here is the interview session with her. We hope you like it.

Q&A With Kaitlin Hartman

What common mistakes do you see couples making?

– Generally speaking, not hiring a wedding planner or coordinator! But specifically, I would say not allowing enough time on the wedding day for certain things to take place… You don’t want to feel rushed through the special moments, but you also don’t want to delay things or drag anything out longer than it needs to. Best solution to this? Work with a planner to create the most ideal wedding day timeline! 😊

What’s the best tip you have for a couple planning a wedding?

– Invest in your vendors! You will not regret spending the money on trustworthy, reliable, and talented individuals/companies to ensure your wedding day is everything you want and more.

What don’t couples know about your business that they need to know?

– I always do everything in my power to make sure every couple I work with feels like I am a true partner to them in their wedding planning process. I want them to feel like they can always come to me like a friend, but also know they can rely on my expertise and professionalism. My favorite weddings are the couples I’m able to cultivate a friendship with and know there is a level of trust between us that shines through not only on their wedding day, and the days leading up to it, but also beyond the wedding day.

What questions should couples be asking that they don’t know to ask?

– This obviously varies when it comes to the different aspects of the wedding (vendors, design, details, timing, etc.) and there are a million and one questions to be asked, but I would say (just off the cuff) always ask if your vendors will require a meal during the reception and how many; if your venue allows real-flame candles or requires battery-operated candles for your table décor; and who will be responsible for setting up and tearing down each aspect of the ceremony, cocktail hour, and/or reception space(s).

What is your best piece of advice for couples planning a wedding?

– Don’t hesitate to make it exactly what YOU want it to be. Although outside opinions and factors do come into play, make sure it is all about what is most important to YOU as a couple and not all about the others involved.

What’s the most unusual wedding you’ve ever done?

– I don’t want to say “unusual” in a negative sense, but definitely different… I had a couple get married inside a small local grocery store earlier this year. It wasn’t the original plan but we made it work and it was the sweetest, most intimate ceremony!

What was the most memorable wedding you ever worked, and why?

– It is so hard to choose just one! But probably my first wedding I did at Silver Oaks. The couple, their families, and their vendors all stood out to me as one of the best experiences. It was early on in my career and I was so thrilled with how everything transpired. Everything ran so smoothly. Everyone was so happy and appreciative. And all the details were absolutely beautiful.

Wrap Up!
