Vendor Highlight - Events by Alexandra
Planning a wedding can be an exhilarating yet overwhelming experience for couples. From choosing the perfect venue to hiring reliable vendors, there are numerous factors to consider. In this blog post, we interviewed Events by Alexandra and will address some common mistakes couples make during wedding planning and provide valuable tips and insights from a professional wedding planner.
  1. What common mistakes do you see couples making when planning a wedding?
Two of the biggest mistakes I see often are: a) Making plans (especially booking a venue) before setting a budget: It’s crucial to establish a clear budget before making any wedding plans. This will help you determine your priorities, make informed decisions, and allocate your resources effectively. By setting a budget first, you can ensure that you don’t overspend or compromise on other essential aspects of your special day. b) Not booking your favorite vendors early: Waiting too long to book vendors you know you want can lead to disappointment, particularly for high-season weddings. Ensure you prioritize and book your preferred vendors in advance. Don’t assume they’ll be available on short notice, as popular vendors often get booked quickly. Additionally, consider multiple options before finalizing any vendor to ensure you find the best fit for your wedding.
  1. What’s the best tip you have for a couple planning a wedding when hiring a service like yours?
Research and interview. When hiring a wedding service provider, such as a coordinator or planner, it’s essential to conduct thorough research. Read client reviews and testimonials to gauge their reputation and level of satisfaction. Equally important is the compatibility of personalities. You’ll be spending a significant amount of time with your coordinator, so ensure you trust and enjoy working with them. This will make the planning process smoother and more enjoyable.
  1. What don’t couples know about your business that they should?
Many couples may not realize that my wedding planning business operates with a team. I have a dedicated group of four day-of assistants who are invaluable assets to my operations. Their expertise and support ensure that your wedding day runs seamlessly, allowing you to relax and fully enjoy the celebration.
  1. What questions should couples be asking while wedding planning that they don’t know to ask?
It’s important for couples to ask detailed questions about vendor contracts. Reading the fine print and understanding the full scope of responsibilities, potential gratuities, and additional charges is crucial. For example, when selecting a venue, inquire about the number of hours included in the rental, the time allotted for set up and breakdown, and the extent of assistance provided by the venue team. This will help you plan your wedding timeline effectively and avoid any unexpected surprises.
  1. What is your best piece of advice for couples planning a wedding?
Amidst the chaos and opinions surrounding wedding planning, it’s crucial to prioritize what truly matters to you as a couple. Avoid getting too caught up in the pursuit of a “perfect” wedding or meeting others’ expectations. Remember that your wedding day is about celebrating your love and creating cherished memories. Focus on what brings you joy and make choices that reflect your unique journey together.
  1. What was the most memorable wedding you ever worked, and why?
One of the most memorable weddings I recently planned was an intimate elopement for a nature-loving couple in North Cascades National Park, Washington State. The stunning location and the couple’s deep connection with nature made it an extraordinary experience. The backdrop of majestic mountains and breathtaking scenery added an unparalleled sense of magic and romance to their special day. Conclusion: Planning a wedding can be an exciting adventure, but it also requires careful consideration and attention to detail. By avoiding common mistakes, conducting thorough research, and prioritizing your desires as a couple, you can create a wedding that reflects your love story. Remember, it’s your day, and it should be a celebration of your unique journey together. Happy wedding planning! Links:
